May The Horse Be With You, and all that...

Happy Chinese New Year, everybody!! Sorry for the lack of updates; it's been rather slow-moving here in Nick Land, with me just continuing to focus on my various projects while figuring out what to do in terms of actually landing a money-earning job, arf. Among the stuff I've committed to are writing music for an international school's theatre project, as well as being assistant musical director and rehearsal musician for an Easter musical for a nearby church. These are to supplement a couple of bigger projects that I've got lined up but not yet confirmed but, hopefully, fingers crossed, these things will solidify soon.

So I'm currently home alone taking care of Ashley and the house, while mum, dad and brother are in Penang for a ten-day tedious CNY visit. Ten days?? Much too long, thank you very much. I'd rather stay here and continue to be productive-ish on my lonesome than to head back and put on a polite smile in front of relatives during my most dreaded time of the year. Besides, the family and I didn't like the idea of putting Ashley in the vet's cage for ten whole days, and we save money on boarding fees this way, too.

So here I am, and it's been rather blissful. Last night for the supposed Chinese New Year Eve reunion dinner I had Southwest Grilled Lamb at Chilli's with my close friend Juan. Yup, really rebelling in the face of tradition here arf! I've even been motivated to do some upkeeping about the place since I've got the house to myself... over the past couple of days I've painted the front gate and fence, and gave the driveway wall a new coat as well. Shame I got the colour of the paint wrong and now a section of the wall doesn't match the rest of the house... but oh well. Least I tried, heh.

That's about it for now, till more stuff develops. In the meantime, I leave you with this little snippet of music written for the abovementioned school theatre project, a national anthem for a faux nation. Enjoy!

Blurred Vision

So a few days ago I decided to create a vision board.

It's evident that the concept eludes me.

2014?! Wot?!

Happy New Year, everybody! Wow, I can't believe it's 2014. Jeez, time is just flying, isn't it?? But never mind. Yesterday Debs, Terry and I met up for a Korean barbecue New Year's Eve dinner (heh) before Terry headed to work and Debs and I hung out and killed time at Terry's apartment (without him there) until the countdown began. Here are some pics from yesterday, as well as a video of us on Terry's balcony last night, with a prime vantage point of nearby fireworks!!

Debra and I were already well tipsy by this point. Cheers!
Terry loves his Korean BBQ!

And here are some pics of Christmas Eve last week, when Little Jo and here family were around in KL and we had a lovely lunch at a restaurant in Mid Valley:

Our feast!!
Awkward selfie alert!
